Majority

Are these sentences correct:



a) "When you have a child, you become responsible for that child until s/he reaches majority."


b) "When you have a child, you become responsible for that child until s/he attains majority."



Note: By 'majority', I mean the age when someone is no longer legally dependent on their parents.
