Mainstream Music :-S

Hy All!
I'm not a native english speaker.
I would like to know a correct explanation for Mainstream Music.
I need it for a presentation. Above all i must know, how i should start with my presentaiton.
I read about "to give a lecture on sth"
for example: I give you (the pupils) a lecture on Muse (that's a band)

Is this alright?
