Is it grammatically correct to say 'She thought that I lied to her was offending.' ?
I assume that 'that I lied to her' is the subject of the second clause. Isn't the second clause a main clause and if so doesn't it require a conjunction (since the first clause 'She thought' is also a main clause).
Thanks in advance.
*She thought that I lied to her was offending. This sentence is garbled and hence ungrammatical . You can't say *"that I lied to her was offending".

You can't say *"that I lied to her was offending". And what 'second' clause are you referring to?
