Magazine

Hello, teachers!
Would you please tell me which is the correct, common BLOCKED EXPRESSION?
Does it happen to have something with the length of the name of a magazine?

1-1. I read the news report in the Fortune magazine.
1-2. I read the news report in Fortune magazine.
1-3. I read the news report in the Fortune.
1-4. I read the news report in Fortune.

2-1. I read the article in the Reader's Digest magazine.
2-2. I read the article in Reader's Digest magazine.
2-3. I read the article in the Reader's Digest.
2-4. I read the article in Reader's Digest.

Thank you very much.
Peace!

1-2 and 1-4 are fine, but I wouldn't say 1-1 or 1-3. 2-1 and 2-2 are redundant because "digest" and "magazine" both refer to a type of publication. It's like saying "the woman female" or "the skyscraper building" or "the vehicle truck".

  • 2-3 and 2-4 are fine, although (and I haven't looked this up) if the formal title of the publication is The Reader's Digest , then 2-3 is the only "really" correct one!
  • On these, I am not aware of any rule.
