Made something an excuse

Hi

This kind of wording is common in Indian English. Could you please tell me how these sentences sound to your native ears?

  1. Now making this very little injury an excuse, he is going to take a few days off.
  2. They made rain an excuse to delay the work.
  3. Making floods a plausible excuse, the government postponed the elections.

Thanks,

Tom

Mr. Tom Now making this very little injury an excuse, he is going to take a few days off. That sounds familiar but odd, like Sherlock Holmes might have said it.

Same deal, but worse. They used the rain as an excuse.
