I am particularly keen to apply for this program in this department as its research interests are an excellent match for my academic background.

While studying for my BA in biotechnology at Islamic University in Gaza, I developed a particular interest in the fundamental role of this science in diagnosis and treatment of different diseases. Thus, my bachelor thesis was about the association between some genes and thrombophilia …, which encouraged my interest in the genetics of diseases.

After completing my BA, I had an MSc. In Biotechnology at the same university and undertook my master thesis on …. My thesis work fired my interest in genetic aspect of immunological disorders and how it can improves people's lives.

The passion for the genetic basis of autoimmunity and understanding defects in human immune system is the main motive to pursue this particular PhD. In addition, the aspiration to discover new diagnostic and therapeutic technologies for immune system disorders pushes me towards more research work and career development. With the department’s expertise and its excellent academic environment it would be the ideal location for my PhD study. I browsed its website and found that it offer a cutting edge fundamental and clinical research. Furthermore, one of the department’s mission is to develop innovative services that benefit patients everywhere. And this is also my main goal.

Throughout my academic career, I have consistently achieved outstanding grades. In my undergraduate study, I was among top three students in my class. Also, I got the first place in my postgraduate study with grade of excellence. As a result of my grades both in bachelor and master level, I have been a holder of different scholarships offered to most prospective students. Furthermore, I have published an academic article in science direct journal which you may find in the enclosure of my CV.

A good grades are not the only indicator of one’s research potential. By conducting different laboratory activities and teaching I sharpened my critical thinking and analysis as well as acquired advanced skills and techniques especially those related to genetic risk profiling, studying several susceptibility loci, genetic predisposition of immune disorders, analyzing some polymorphisms involved in thrombophilia and other cytogenetic techniques.

I have developed strong leadership and communication skills. In high school, I was the captain of tennis table team. In university, I was an active member in the scientific club where I have often lead a group when it comes to the group assignments and I have involved in organization of several academic seminars and local conferences.

I am flexible person, comfortable with working on my own or as a part of team. I enjoy learning about new cultures and meeting students from different countries.
