Hello everyone,
Firstly, thank you for some usefull tips, I have alredy received from this site.
I am going to apply to International Masters programme in Germany, and I would like to ask for you feedback.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope that the following motivation letter will provide you with all necessary information about me as an applicant for M.Sc. ‘XXX’ in University of Freiburg.
I would like to describe my motivation to apply for the programme, based on my previous experience and education. Currently, I am a final (fourth) year bachelor student of Graduate School of Business Administration - Lomonosov Moscow State University (Russia). 23 June 2012 I am going to graduate, holding Bachelor of Business Administration degree. In the beginning of my 4 year I became highly interested in the ideas of sustainable development – namely environmental sustainability (probably an exchange semester in Hanken School of Economics, Finland in the fall semester 2011 has showed me the urgency of this topic). So, I have done my best to get to the bottom of this issue. Firstly, I have chosen bachelor thesis topic “Recycling industry in Moscow” – in this thesis I am analyzing problems in recycling industry in Moscow, from economic perspective, and I am going to make my own propositions, some of them will be based on European countries experience, namely Germany. Secondly, starting from January 2012, I am a trainee in World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Oil and Gas ecology department, my supervisor and me are currently researching in the field of environmental standardization – and the summary of our research is expected to be published in July 2012. Thirdly, I am a member of student nature-conserving organization, the department where I am present acts as a watch dog, tracking infractions in the reservations parks of Moscow region.
Having treated the issue of ecological sustainability in Russia form various angles, I came to the conclusion, that we do need changes. And I would like to implement several changes in my country in this field. Studying in Germany will familiarize me with state of art researches, methods etc, in the field of Environmental Governance, since Germany is one of the leaders in solving environmental problems. During studies, I would like to get an internship in some international organization, focusing on sustainable development, so I can put theory and practice together. After graduation, as for now, I see myself in Russian government body, probably The Ministry of Environment, or some international organization in Russia, where I can implement my knowledge to improve ecological situation in Russia.
I expect to gain three main benefits from the M.Sc. programme:
- Excellent knowledge in the field of sustainability, society and environment. Since the programme is in top 10 sustainability programmes, the knowledge I receive is highly valuable.
- The ability to see various approaches. Since the programme is international, I will be able to communicate with people from different cultures, and with different backgrounds, so I will be able to see various approaches for solving one problem.
- Improved language skills (English, German) – currently, I am studying German, so I hope to master it. I think, that knowledge of two languages will help me to receive information from large variety of sources thus to broaden my horizons.
But I am going not only to take from the programme, but also I am going to contribute a lot. I will make the following contributions:
- Diversity. I come from Russia, my country is different from all others, so my knowledge, and my approaches, will contribute this programme`s diversity.
- Perfect alumnae. I am going to be worthy alumnae, and my success will promote ‘Environmental Governance’ programme, University of Freiburg and German education in general.
Finaly, I would like to state the reasons, why I should be selected:
- Knowledge. My average grade is 4 out of 5 (5 is the best mark), and my University is the best University in Russia.
- A will to study. Abovementioned information states, that I am really interested in this field of study, so I will do my best to work hard.
- I am your target group. I satisfy all characteristics of the programme: I would like to be a leader, I have excellent knowledge and a will to study, I will contribute to diversity.
Thank you very much for considering my request. I look forward to your positive response.
With kind regards,
