lyrics = words?

1. Do you know the lyrics of "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong?

2. Do you know the words of "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong?

Q) Can lyrics and words be used in the same way like in #1 and #2?

I heard from someone or some source that word(s) is used for lyrics in some contexts. Am I right or I didn't get it correctly?

"Lyrics" and "words" are interchangeable in this context. "Words" is usual. I would use "to" with them, though, and the "by" tag gets a comma: "Do you know the words to 'What a Wonderful World,' by Louis Armstrong?"
