What does ”Sink in the river the lesson I learnt” mean in the OneRepublic song "Counting Stars"?

It doesn't mean anything. I went and read the lyrics to the whole "song" (thanks for that nightmarish experience, by the way). But I did come away with a better understanding of modern "music:", such as it is. I normally only hear it as storecast in shopping centers, and I try to exude a force-field to protect my soul from it, rather successfully, as a rule, so I don't get to hear the words. The "singer" bleats just anything into an auto-tune in his best imitation of the Backstreet Boys in hopes that the mere energy of the production will catapult him and his investors to stardom, that and the payola. The "lyrics" seem to have been written while the "writer" was on a bender of some kind. In this case I suspect Southern Comfort and amphetamines. You would think that the Sixties and Seventies would have put paid to the idea that you can compose while blotto, but they seem to have found a way to make it work at least insofar as it produces income for the "artists".

The grammar of it is an inversion. It is equivalent to "sink the lesson I learnt in the river". You know what? It could be a river of Southern Comfort.
