Grammar

lying / staying at the hospital

Can I say,

He is lying at the hospital.

He is staying at the hospital.

They are visiting grandfather at hospital.

Top answer

Lying means to recline. Therefore, I don't think that your first sentence is right. In the second sentence, I would suggest the word "recuperating" instead of staying.

Why don't we use "at the hospital"?

This sentence is correct?

Susan works at the hospital.

You do use "at the hospital" unless you are referring to the patient (the sick person). Then you say "He is in (the - AmE) hospital."
