Speech & Pronunciation

Luther Vandross

Could I ask a question?

Is the "o" in "Vandross" pronounced as "o" as in "officer"?

Thank you in advance.

p.s.

Is "Thank you in advance." idiomatical?

Thank you again.

-- Yes, for me. -- No, but it is in heavy use. To me, it is a bit rude — as if you don't have time to thank the person afterward.

Thank you for your answer, Mister Micawber.

And sorry for being rude with the wrong expression. I'm really sorry.

Is there any usage more proper that I can use whenever I post a question on the website?

I just want to show my gratitude first.

Thank you.

It only seems rude to me and some others, Anon. Most people let it pass by without a thought. I suggest 'please' when you ask and 'thank you' after you receive a reply.
