Love for/towards sb?

Hello!

Thanks for your wonderful job.

I would like to ask which sounds better:

love for the neighbour or love towards the neighbour?

Thanks in advance!

Both sound a little strange because of 'the'. It would be better for you to post the complete sentence at least.

For example, in the below sentences:

“Love towards creatures is indispensable condition for loving ***; but love towards our neighbour must be greater than the one towards the creatures.”

"Love towards *** and towards the neighbour; this is a pair which cannot be separated."

By the chance, could you please tell me if there is any difference between toward and towards?

'For' would be simpler and more direct.
