love

Talking about a past relationship:

I don't think I have ever been in love as much as I have been while I was with him.

Please proofread. Thank you!

Shouldn't it be as much as I had been?

I think that it should indeed be "as much as I had been". You are talking about a relationship in the past ("while I WAS with him") and so you need the past tense form of the verb "to have".
