Louis

Could I ask a question?

When I read the name "Louis," how could I know the "s" at the end of the word pronounced or not pronounced?

Thank you in advance.

If they're American, at least, the more common pronunciation is Lewis.

Being from America I think in nearly all cases where I've seen this you would pronounce the 's', unless the person in question was French.

Living in Europe, I've found that the 's' is almost never pronounced.... mainly because it's French and they only pronounce about 30% of the letters in any word.

So take the city of Saint Louis for eaxmple - in the US we pronounce it 'Saint Le
