Lost wallet

Can you please correct this paragraph? Can you rewrite it in your own words so I can see what a native speaker does? Thank you.

I was sleeping on the bus and someone stole my wallet. As soon as I got off the bus, I knew that it was gone. I went to the other side to wait for the bus to come back. After 10 minutes, it came back, but I didnt see my wallet at my spot. The bus driver said he didnt see it either. After that, I cancelled my bank card and got a new student card.

For example (American usage): I fell asleep on the bus, and when I got up and got off at my stop, I realized my wallet was missing. Thinking that I may have dropped it somewhere on the bus, I waited on the other side of the street for the bus to come back the other way, and got on again. When I got on again, I looked everywhere on the bus but didn't see it.

  • I asked the bus driver, and he said no one had turned in a lost wallet.
  • So someone may have picked my pocket when I was sleeping, or I lost it before I got on the bus.
