Lose weight?

Are these two (1) and (2) sentences correct?

Are there any other ways of putting the underlined part?

Some try to eat less to lose weight. Wanting to be slim is fine in itself, but ( ).

(1) there is no point losing weight if you get sick.

(2) being slim has no value if it makes you sick.
