Hitch, it is a must for the big screen, especially the last one. I was blown away but the special effects this time, especially the battle. It would lose a lot of the adrenalin rush seeing it on a TV. Speaking of which, the Oscars are on tele this Sunday. There is so much that could not be put in the movie that appears in the books. I must read it again to see which parts.
I started to read the first book few weeks ago, and now I've reached the chapter where the hobbits arrived at the Prancing Pony (I'm a slow reader). I'm a little bit dissapointed, a lot of details in the book didn't appear in the movie and some of the story sequences are different too.

Most (or very many) films are based on books or plays, and you will find that in almost all these cases the film is NOT like the book. Don't be disappointed. It happens all the time.
