Looking to improve my gramamer

So I am looking to improve my grammar and I figured I would start from the ground up. Most of my English learning is self-taught so I feel it is rather poor. I am a native English speaker so I grew up speaking English, however I skipped learning grammar almost entirely by changing school systems.

So I started doing examples in a book and it has no answers so if anyone has the time or is willing to help me that would be greatly appreciated. I am not looking for the correct answers here. I simply want to know if I am doing it wrong as there is no where for me to check the answers within this book. Also as an off-topic thought if you could recommend any books that would help with creative writing I would grateful.

You need to send much shorter posts, I'll start with the first Exercise 1 and come back to the others when I have time, unless somebody else answers them in the meantime. If you have not been timed out, edit the numbers of the exercises. They go 1, 2, 1, 1, 2, which is not a helpful numbering system.

First of all, the terms “simple subject” and “complete subject” are misleading. In The apples in the fruit bowl were all sour, for example, the noun apples is not any kind of subject; it’s the head of the subject noun phrase the apples in the fruit bowl. So instead this book should be telling you to identify the subject and the head of the noun phrase. That said, I will
