Looking for good expressions

Hi teachers~

I am looking for words to describe a situation like this.

I am thinking about getting a new watch (even though my watch is working fine.) and suddenly my watch stops working.

Are there any words to connect the two clauses?(conjunctions or adverbs)

Thank you in advance~
