looking for an idiom

Hi
I'm looking for the right/funny idiom here

Imagine a device or something is not working then you ask someone to look at it, but once he come over, it works! Probably this happens a few times... as a native speaker, to make it funny what would you say here?

Thanks

I wouldn't associate "gremlins" with this phemomenon at all. I know what you mean -- the problem/noise goes away as soon as the repairman/mechanic looks at the appliance/car -- but there's no particular way of referring to it.

It took me until now to get what you meant. We have an expression similar to the one you describe—to make a monke

Maybe eg 'This toaster has a mind of its own' ?

Meaning - It thinks for itself. Sometimes it decides to work, sometimes it decides not to work.
