Looking for a word

Hi,

What do we call the act of digging the tomb after someone's buried to examine the corpse for medical purposes?

Thank you in advance,

Iman

For a recent burial it's exhumation and for a more ancient or historical one it's excavation . I expect you need the former from the phrasing of your question. Rover

Hi.

Apart from what my friends said, you can also use the verb disinter.

However, this verb does not necessarily describe the act of examing a corpse but just the digging and removing action.

I hope it helps
