Looking for a song from the late 80th

Hi everybody, I was on vacation in Bulgaria in 1989 and there was this song they kept playing over and over again. Ever since then it kept nugging at me and I've never been able to find it anywhere.

It went "Dont let me go, don't cry tonight..."

Does anybody have clue what this song is called and who sings it? I'd be grateful forever...
