Looking for a proper verb

Hi.
I wonder if I can use the verb capture for behavior?
Ex. This method captures the bahavior of this material.

I am looking for a verb with the same meaning as predict. I wonder if capture can convey the meaning.
I have looked combination of capture with behavior in COCA, but there was no results.
Thanks for your time and help

I am looking for a verb with the same meaning as predict. My thesaurus suggests: forecast, foretell, foresee, prophesy, anticipate, tell in advance, envision, envisage. Capture does not seem correct to me.

  • "Predict" is my preference, but " This method can foretell the bahavior of the material" is possible (but awkward).
  • Stick with predict.

I agree that "captures" does not correctly describe "future behavior," at least not without more context.
It might describe the material's behavior in general, including future behavior, but it would not have the same meaning as "predict."

This method captures the essence of the material.
