looking for a phrasal verb

possibly.

I share a place with roommates. When I'm the last one turning in, I always make sure all doors and windows are locked, lights turned off.....etc. There are routines to ensure safety and energy-conservation because we are poor and defenseless, but not all are dependable. If I want to remind the last person to go to bed to do the routines for the night, what do I say? "could you make sure you __________ for the night/the night?"

"close out"? "shut down"?

Thanks a lot

If you tell the Marines to "secure" the building, they will sweep the building from top to bottom, establish sniper positions on the roof and a roving perimeter patrol.

If you tell the Army to "secure" the building, they will ensure it is not o

I think I'd say Make sure you lock up for the night, it being understood that I meant the full routine.

Grammar Geek, sorry about mistaking your gender and thank you for the joke. I had a good laugh but I won't be using "secure" on my roommates for sure, nobody will talk to me if I do.
