look up

Hanuman_2000"Look up" is a phrasal verb . I want to use it in a sentence.
Could anybody explain a few uses of it?

(EX) We looked up at the sky as soon as we heard the roar of planes.
(EX) Students look up to Mr Hanuman as a great English teacher.
(EX) I looked up the phrasal verb "look up" in my E-J dictionary.

Are "look up" and "look up to" look up at" same or different ?

IF I am asked to use "look up" phrasal verb in a sentence , then Can I write the sentences (1) and (2) as written by you?

(EX) We looked up (=directed the sight upward) at the sky as soon as we heard the roar of planes.
(EX) Students look up to (=respect) Mr Hanuman as a great English teacher.
(EX) I looked up (=checked) the phrasal verb "look up" in my E-J dictionary.

Thanks a lot for greate information.

Paco you wrote look up to=respect. But shouldn't it be like that look up to=visit or call or get well

And looked up in dictionary you said. To me it should be look something up therefore I looked the E-J dictionary up.

Excuse me but or else do i know wrong?
