look through camera

Is it correct to look through the camera? Would you use 'monitor' maybe 'camera feed'? How would you naturally write this?

I looked through the security camera to see what was going on outside the gates.

Thank you very much

You can "look through" a camera that has a traditional viewfinder and lens arrangement, but this seems unlikely for a security camera, which is probably in a remote position feeding its picture to a screen (monitor). In that case you can say "look at the security camera feed" or "look at the security camera monitor".
