Look sideways?

Hi,

Sometimes my toddler does not look straight at me. He moves his eyeballs to one side.
That is not polite in my opinion. How do I say that in English?
"Do you look sideways!" ?

Thanks

There's "He gave me a sidelong glance," but that's a brief act, and rather adult. There's "He averted his gaze," but that's quite high register. "

Eye contact can be a complicated issue. For example, I believe it plays an important role in Autism.
I'm not sure I understand why you're interpreting it as rudeness if it happens when you're not necessarily seeking his attention.

The terms we use to describe what we do with our eyes often depend on the way we interpret what it "means" -- which may not be accurate.

I understand your point.
Thanks for your kind reminding.
I just googled what Autism is, and found my son does not possess the characteristics of that kind of problem.
I think my son's behavior is way of expressing anger, displeasure, or mischief.
It is infrequent. If you ask him to stop doing that, he can.
