Look On Dejected(ly)

http://oldlivefight.livefight.com/news.php?news_id=860&y=2010&m=04

"Booing rung around the Palace as Harrison's hand was raised as champion, as Sprott looked on dejected. "

Should "dejected" have been "dejectedly"? "dejected" comes after the verb phrase "looked on", so maybe "dejected" should be in adverb form?

Hi,

Booing rang around . . .

Having those three uses of 'as' is terrible style. I'd at least replace the last one with 'while'.

Could this be correct:

"The losing team looked on dejected near the end of the game."

Because the following seems to be correct:

"The losing team went home dejected."

The losing team looked on dejected near the end of the game.-- Yes, or 'dejectedly'. Yours is an adjective and mine is an adverb. There's a name for that kind of modification, but I've forgotten it. It only works with certain kinds of verbs.
