look in sb's face

Please tell me which is correct:

"He didn't dare to look in her face after lying to her"
"He didn't dare to look her in the face after lying to her"

Do they both have the same meaning?

The usual expression is "look someone in the eye". "He couldn't look her in the eye after lying to her." "He couldn't face her after lying to her."

Thank you. And what about #1? Is it incorrect? Or just a different meaning? Again, what's the difference between "Look in my eyes" and "Look me in the eyes"?

We don't normally look in anyone's face; we look at it.

It's properly "look into my eyes", I'd say. And it's "look me in the eye", not "eyes". To look someone in the eye implie
