Look at [*the] page ten

Dear all,

One of these days when I wrote "Look at the page ten of your textbook", I was told that it should be "Look at page ten...", and if I add "the" before "page" it sounds rather wrong.

Why on earth is that, I wonder....! Would you kindly help me? Many thanks Emotion: smile))

I would prefer: Look at page ten in your textbook. No article is usually used with a noun if there is a cardinal number after it: platform six , page 238, World War I I, period t hree I felt a kindred spirit from day one . (Johnny Cash about Carl Perkins) CB

I would prefer: Look at page ten in your textbook. No article is usually used with a noun if there is a cardinal number after it:
