Look at someone hopefully

Guy: Maybe you could come with me.

The guy looked at the girl hopefully.

Girl: I can't.

Guy: Why not?

Hi.

Is this correct and natural usage of 'hopefully'? Does it describe that the guy hopes very much that the girl will say 'yes'?

Could 'expectantly' also work? And if so, would it imply a bigger believe in a positive response from the girl than using 'hopefully'?

Thanks.
