longer or more time shorter or smaller

teachers hi,
please tell me how to say this?

-The more times/longer they spend on offense the fewer times they will commit fouls on defense.

-The team was able to erase a bigger deficit in a smaller window of time.

Thanks

These might typically be said as:

"The more time they spend on offense, the fewer defensive fouls they'll commit."

"The team was able to erase a bigger point deficit in a smaller amount of time than in their last close game (this sentence implies a comparison with something else, so some kind of qualification is needed)."
