Long time no news!

Hi
So I am about to ask a buddy, how she's doing, and now my wit is about to coin the term (I haven't heard it myself, yet) but thought before doing so, ask a native to see if he/she would get the same impression as "It's been so long I haven't heard from you".
Regards

Thanks for your reply. I knew the fixed phrase already but I was thinking of coming up with something new, which conveys the same message but in rather a new format.
