Long lists

Can I use semi-colons at the end of a list item which also contains full stops? I'd say no but wondered what your thoughts are? Example below. Could the full stops in red be s-cs?

Are in the following items:

Book 1 contains directions on driving. It will allow you to understand and and anticipate traffic speed and adjust your course accordingly.

Book 2 contains directions on drinking, and how to get the best from your evening.

Book 3 takes a closer look at clothing. This book focuses on what to wear for that special occasion.

It will allow you to understand and and anticipate traffic speed and adjust your course accordingly ; Book 2 contains directions on drinking, and how to get the best from your evening ; Book 3 takes a closer look at clothing.

Absolutely. A semi-colon links things more closely than a full stop so as Amy has illustrated you are separating highly linked ideas and combining lesser-linked ideas.

But there is no need to write them with the full stops in the first place. Look at how Book 2 keeps it as one sentence while Book 1 and Book 3 needlessly break the thoughts into two sentences. Fix that, and you can use the
