Your pronunciation is not correct on some of your examples. The second syllable of "bilirubin" is pronounced "uh" not "ee."

yellow (yeh) The e sound is because of the "e" not the "y."

yacht (ya) The "a" sound is because of the "a" not the "y."

system (eh) The "y" is pronounced "i" as in "sit."

You asked some great questions, park grape 133.

A lot has to do what syllable gets stressed or if there are doubling of consonants.
