Locutorio

0hello my friends.02br

00In my country, making international phone calls is a little bit expensive from a house phone, that´s why there are some businesses that offer this service in a specific place full of phones and where the price is lower. People go and pay certain amount of money for each minute. They are called "locutorios", it's a Spanish word. Is there an English word for this place?0-

0 I think telephone booth is more like a phone on the street, but in the "locutorio" phones are like the one in a house and are in a position that makes someone have a seat and talk comfortably. 0-

00In areas with a large immigrant population, such as parts of London, you get a lot of shops set up offering services to the immigrants but these shops are not really used by British people. The sort of services they offer are internet access, selling phone cards which are used to call overseas at sup

00Okay, Call centre sounds good but I wouldn't say the same for an internet cafe. Are you able to call from internet cafes? I know that in the locutorios there are also computers, but more telephones than computers while in an internet cafe there are computers.02br
02br
00So, the right answer is Call Centre, right?

0 Nona's comment is very useful. In developed countries there are no such places, only something like Internet cafés where other services are included. According to what I read I would call "locutorios" call centers, and also telephone shops sound ok to me. 0-

0No, sorry Ana, but I don't think it's call center. A call center is where customers of a company call in for help, to place an order, etc. If you want to buy something from a catalog, have a question about your credit card statement or need technical service for your computer, etc., you call the toll-free number and talk to someone in a call center.02br

00Then, imagine that I have to use that word in an essay and since that word doesn't exist in English, how should I write it? Just by writing "locutorio" and then the meaning of the word?:)02br
