Location of 'never'

I never should have met you. VS. I should have never met you.

Which one is natural or correct between them? Thank you and take good care.

According to Google hits, they run about 2+billion to 3+ billion. Your personal style, I guess. I think it's a little more logical to have the negative modify should , but a case can be made for its modifying met .

Hi

The first is more natural, but so is a third possibility...

- I should never have met you

There is a big problem here with context. Do you mean...

- I never should have met you - then I would have been a much happier person

or do you mean...

- I should never have met you - if I hadn't jumped on that bus to Pittsburgh
