I would like to practice laconic style of speech and/or writing. was wondering if there are any good books out there that you have heard of ? i briefly searched amazon and cound not find any.

Voltaire's "Candide", available in English translation in Penguin Books. Excellent for its laconic style, as well as for its irony.
