lobby, lounge

Are "lobby" and "lounge" interchangeable? Thanks for your help.

Top answer

No. A lobby is an entrance area whereas a lounge is an area for people to sit and relax, with chairs/sofas, tv etc. In a house this is the 'living room/sitting room' and a lobby would be the hallway.
