I'm looking for the right verb to be used in the following:
"...It can be used to select the goods, or alternatively to load them using the bar code, and the quantity..." (load doesn't mean physically here, of course)
I'll be thankful for any help.

"load" means to "read into memory (from the hard disc, CD etc). If your data are already in memory, use "read".
