My grandma lives alone in Taiwan now.
or My grandma is living alone in Taiwan now.
Are both sentences useable and interchangeable?

Hi, Yes: As they stand, they seem to mean the same. I prefer the second version because of the word now . Regards

Well, the meanings are not quite the same:

[1] My grandma lives alone in Taiwan now.
[2] My grandma is living alone in Taiwan now.

In [1] the present tense implies a permanent arrangement
