Livelihood and living

is there any better way can help me differentiate them?

She earns a living as a writer.
what do you do for a living.
I learnt the differences between living and livelihood by memorise that we use living with earn a and do for a .

I don't bake cake for fun: it is my livelihood
moving lawns is his only livelihood
I learnt the use of livelihood by memorise that livelihood is way to earn money.

But how about the two sentences below, I came across them in dicitionary recently
a means / source of livelihood
she earns a livelihood by sewing.
with my old ways to study, I must say she earns a lving by sewing.

livelihood means way to earn money how come he need to add "a means/source"
I think it a repitation.
