Live the present
'Do not live the past, for it will make the past of you. Do not live the future, for it is nought but an ever distant seductress. Live the present for only it remains by your side in good times as well as in the bad."
This is my translation of an old saying that I heard today. I was trying to make it sound archaic but I wasn't too sure if the grammar in it were acceptable. I was especially unsure about the emboldened parts. Please have a look at them and tell me if they are grammatically acceptable and if there are better ways of expressing them. Thanx ^^

I would say "live ini the past," "live in the future," and "Live in the present."
Otherwise, it seems fine to me. Shorter would be "in good times and bad."
