Live smart, smartly?

Nowadays in our contry, many people say " live smart or live young..etc, but according to Longman Dictionary, the word, "live" should be followed by adverbs such as live happily. So I really need somebody's help to get out of this confusion, and smart or young can be used as adverbs recently?

Thanks a million in advance.
