I would say live on a pension, but off one's parents.

Hi

As for the benefit I was thinking about money that the goverment gives for the unemployed.

I'm sure I saw somewhere "live off of". If in this instance I cannot use the second "of" when can I use it then?

Hi,

The use of 'off of' is substandard.

eg The pen fell off the desk OK

eg The pen fell off of the desk. Not OK

I've recollected where I saw it.

It's Something in the Way by Nirvana.

The first stanza says:

Underneath the bridge
My tarp has sprung a leak
And the animals I've trapped
Have all become my pets
And I'm living off of grass
And the drippings from my ceiling
It's okay to eat fish
'Cause they don't have any feelings

I loathe "off of" in any context. There is never any need for it, and I recommend that you avoid it.

Hi,
I was searching the internet for live on live off. I was wondering if you could tell me how this should be written.

I make enough money as a photographer to live. I'm lucky enough to be able to live off my passion.
