live inferior?

Dear teachers,

2 sentences confuse me grammatically:

In "The Power of I am" by Joel Osteen, he writes:

(1) You could easily let that seed get inside, ruin your sense of value, and cause you to live inferior.

Shouldn't it be "live an inferior" or "live inferiorly"?

(2) And ladies, as was true for Sarah, you may have had a lot of things in life try to push you down

Shouldn't it be "trying to" or "that try to"?

Thanks for your help.

Shouldn't it be "live an inferior" or "live inferiorly"? 'Live inferiorly' is possible, but I think that 'live' is being used as a linking verb here. Thank you for the prompt reply. But
(1) if live is being used as a linking verb and inferior, a countable noun meaning " A person lower in rank, status, or accomplishment than another.",
being used as the subject compliment,
shouldn't it be ""live AN inferior"?
(2) when the relative pronoun "that" is the subject in the relative clause, can it be omitted?

No, I presume it is being used as a predicate adjective.

This formulation is explained in all the preceding text.
