I was caught by a policeman.
I had to pulled over and little I know that I drove my car without my headlight on.

Little I did know that I didn't turn off the heat on the stove, when getting out of my house.

Little I did know that I left my passport in the safe in the hotel room, while heading for the airport.
When reaching the airport, I realized not only did I left my passport but also I left my wallet.

I had to pulled over and little I know that I drove my car without my headlight on. I had to pull over ; little did I know that I had been driving (my car) without headlights. Little I did know that I didn't turn off the heat on the stove, when getting out of my house.

This sentence is hard to repair. If you left your passport in the safe, this was clearly before you headed for the airport. 'While' is therefore impossible, unless you turn it round , as in the first sentence below:
