Litter & cub

Hi,
What's the difference between 'litter' and 'cub'?
"Sita the tigress, named after the Hindu deity of purity and virtue, lives in Banhavgarh national park. Since 1986 she has produced six litters, totalling 18 cubs."

Thank you in advance,

Iman
