I am working on the poem My last Duchess. If we are talking about how effective the language is to portray the duke's character, what are we suppose to talk or comment on?
Am I suppose to talk about metaphors, personification, irony and etc.. and connect them to illustrate the duke's character? or simply do as below:
Ex : line 32-34- (// somehow i know not...she ranked/ My gift of a nine-hundred-years old name/ with anybody's gift.//) illustrates the duke's pride in his ancestry and title which represents wealth and power. The duke is very arrogant and prides himself for giving his wife the best gift of all which is his family name and title.
Is this correct? Pls help!
