Here are 3 questions that I don't understand from "The scarlet letter":
1) Chapter 12
Pearl laughed, and attempted to pull away her hand. But the minister held it fast.
" A moment longer, my child!" said he

2) Still chapter 12
Pearl mumbled something into his ear, that sounded, indeed, like human language, but was only such gibberish as children may be heard amusing themselves with, by the hour together.

3) Chapter 13
A species of general regard had ultimately grown up in reference to Hester Prynne

I don't understand the words in bold, please help
